Why not to buy Grant Boxing gloves

I have been buying and using Boxing gloves for a very long time.  I fight and I train people.
I get a lot of equipment from people.  I use it all and I let them know what I think of the equipment.

I use Winning Gloves- I love them!  Very good quality. They are soft and I like to use them when my hands hurt or I am sparring a new bee. Ive never had a problem and the guy who runs Winning USA will bring them to you at the gym.  They stand by their equipment.

Cleto Reyes- I always liked these for sparring.  Top Quality.  I have had two pairs for over three years and I use them.  I spar at least 25 rounds a week.  They are easy to get and they stand behind their product.
I have never had a problem and I have used these since the 90's.  They are a little bulky for MMA and or Kickboxing sparring.

Grant Boxing-http://grantworldwide.com/ I have had three pairs of these gloves.  I really like the snug fit and the wrist padding.  The first pair was awesome.  They lasted three years!  Then I ordered a new pair.
I ordered them directly from Grant.  I ordered a pair of black, red and white 14oz gloves and two pairs of wraps.  A week later a box with the wraps shows up.  The wraps were 5.00 and the shipping was 16.00! NO GLOVES.  I call Grant and they say they are on back order. I ask why they would send the wraps and not tell me?  I tell them it was waste.  They did not care.  I told them to take the charge off my card and forget the gloves because they told me it would be SIX WEEKS to get my gloves.  I need gloves right away. I train 6 days a week. So I go buy a pair of Winnings.  A few weeks go by and the Grants show up.  I decide to use them.  That was three years ago.

August of this year. My Girlfriend buys me a gift of Grants.  She paid 375.00 for a pair of Green 14oz gloves.  The People at Grant were rude to her so she bought them from another source.
It is now December 19th 2012 and the Grants are coming apart at the thumbs.  We write Grant and they are rude and send back some bad emails.  THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT PEOPLE WHO PAY ALMOST 400 DOLLARS FOR THEIR GLOVES!

Hi Anne,

Just curious, have you ever purchased a pair of shoes and worn them for four months and tried to return them because the sole wore down or another defect from wear and tear and expected them to give you a brand new pair? I appreciate you letting us know of your problem and we will certainly look into it, as far as your comment of sharing your experience with others, thankfully there are people all over the world that continue to believe in our product and at the end of the day, no matter what you do, you can't please everyone.

Happy Holidays,

Elliot

Re: Grant Gloves Coming Apart
Hi Anne,

Yes they are our product, but sold through a third party. We offer a 90 day warranty (when purchased through us) against faulty workmanship. In this case it's over 120 days and based on the images you sent, obviously plenty of "wear and tear".
We have people who's gloves last them two years but they use them lightly and others who can go through a pair in two months. What are the gloves being used for mainly?

Thanks,

Elliot

I had exactly the same experience with them...Very, very rude people, they never take care for their customers. Arrogant to people who spend a ton of money...

This is why I put this page up. I have had 7,000 people look at this page. I even called them and I get the same. Why pay 400.00 for a pair of poorly made gloves.

Exactly!!! No need to pay so much for total crap!!! Now I stick with WINNING. Extremely high quality control and in fact cheaper than Grant. For example I ordered a special 6oz. gloves with my name on 3rd/FRIDAY/ this month, paid on 4th/SATURDAY/ and they sent them to me on 5th/SUNDAY/ morning in 7:30 a.m. Tokyo time!!! When they produce the gloves I don't know, maybe during the night-THAT I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I received the gloves yesterday -9th just before my afternoon training.
To be honest I still like the idea behind the GRANT-you open the palm fully and always land on the knuckles right out of the box, but the attitude to "common" people is disgusting. They told me on the phone that they care only for multimillionaires that are their clients!!!
Excuse my bad English.

I always stood by Grant. Been wearing those gloves since the company started out. But now Elvis has Mayweather etc. and he could prob care less about us small time boxers. Plus the price has doubled and its become ridiculous to wait over 6 weeks. I go with Winning now and love the products. Elvis if it wasn't for us small time boxers and gyms who started buying and praising your products you wouldn't be where you are. It's sad to see you forget how you got to this point. Congrats on your success and best health.

I had always heard amazing things about Winning & Grant as far as being the very best gloves in boxing (For their price they better be! lol). I have a pair of Winnings and they are absolutely worth every penny, but i always wondered about Grant so i was about to buy from them until i came across this page, i've changed my mind and decided to go with Winning again, i am not going to spend a ton of money on some jackass who is rude to customers.

I had a pair of Grant. Paid for them waited 4 weeks. \contacted them and they told me they were on back order. Why didn't they let me know?? They arrived after around 2 months and that was because I ordeded a different colour. No apoligies, nothing. Had then for around 12 month and they split down the outside of my little finger.
I took them to a taylor who repaired them and the other side ripped a day or two later. grant gloves are KNOWN for tearing.
Never again!

Have had numerous horrible experiences with Grant in particular over then past 18 months. Not sure what has happened but they have become arrogant and unresponsive. Not sure they care about running a proper business and building a reputation of quality and customer satisfaction. Seem like a bunch of young bucks running wild. Agree, Winning all the way. I'll even box in Everlasts before Grants......

Couldn't agree more. Dealt with Grant on many issues recently including false promises on timing of delivery, construction quality (gloves broke down after 2.5 months) and overall poor customer service. Never honored gloves and decided to throw them away. Winning all the way and I'll be happier in a pair of ever last protex 3 than grant. Thx for this comment forum - share your sentiment

At my old college there was a boxing studio on campus and hidden among the cheap Ringside bag gloves they kept on the rack, was an old pair of Grant Super Bag Gloves. They, even after 2-3 years of abuse among hundreds of users, were still in fantastic shape, were magic on the bag. It's a shame that that level of craftsmanship isn't there anymore with the brand. I always hoped one day to buy a pair of Grants but the Grant that once was, is no more. Grant Elvis Phillips, the owner of Grant, has remodeled Grant as a "boutique brand" catering to high-end clientele and has effectively turned his back on the customers that once swore by his gloves and equipment. Grant has Mayweather, Canelo and Wladimir and it seems he could care less about the average joe/boxer.

Personally, I stick to Thai gloves--Windy, Twins, Fairtex & Boon. For $60-100 you get a glove that's hand made, incredibly durable, professional grade and comparable in quality to their Mexican (maybe not Japanese) counterparts.

This site has over 20,000 page views and averages 100 views a day. I may have wasted $400 on a pair of cheaply made gloves, but at least we've saved some other boxers the hassle and money.

I am glad people have come to this blog. The email's from Grant are just what they are like. I train everyday in Los Angeles. I train with Pro boxers and MMA Guys, I also train actors. I always used Grants. The Thai Gloves are very good for the prices, Ive never had a split with Fairtex or Kings. Handmade Mexican Gloves are awesome!

Ringside are really good :-)

Wouldn't buy grant as there to expensive and You could get similar or even better quality for cheaper such as winning etc
Sounds like they only care for mayweather etc :-\

yea for around the same price or a tiny bit more winnings gloves are way better. And u can use them gloves for anything bc there the best training gloves for ur hands. Now i do use bag gloves just for the bag , but u can use the winnings i just dont bc if i just use them for everything else they will last 5 yrs min. bc there like beautiful pillows on ur hands!!!! Grant is over rated! Only time i even think about using there glove is on fight night and sorry i got cleto reyes bc i dont have hand problems and its best punchers glove on fight night. I dont use mexican punchers gloves to train bc there not great for the hands. I use ringside IMF sparring for everything but bag work before reyes or grants. 2.5 inches of patented foam injected in glove over knuckles.

Grant people are rude and there gloves are only good for bouts in my opinion. For the same money winning gloves blow them away for overall training. winning gloves can be used for everything even the bag but i dont i use bag gloves and winning for everything else to train. Mexican gloves like grant and cleto reyes are great puncher gloves why there used in alot of fights but training u can get cheaper gloves that will protect ur hands and wrist which is more important than having a cool brand. If u get Ringside IMF tech bag gloves and sparring ur set. there about 70-80 for each. Each glove has 2.5 inches of patented IMF tech foam injected to protect the hands and knuckles. They are way better to train wit if u dont have winnings compared to grant or cletos. The best pair for the money to do everything and are closest to comfort to the winning the ringside sparring gloves!
